DICOM / PACS Solutions

The Sentinel MVP

If you would like more information:

The Sentinel Imaging MVP (Medical View-station/ PACS-server solutions)
Managing and archiving digital medical images on CDs or DVDs is indeed frustrating and costly.
Not only do the physicians not have immediate access to studies when and where they need them, but the administrative overhead cost is a monthly recurring line item and sensitive patient data on CD or DVD can create HIPAA compliance issues if they are lost or misplaced.

MVP allows you to transfer studies from your modalities over the network for viewing, archiving and management. Think of MVP as your personalized and cost effective DICOM Archive with a web-based viewer, which allows you to view studies from anywhere.

The basic MVP systems are compatible with any DICOM modality and available in storage capacities ranging from 1 to 4 TB. Larger MVP servers include multi processor configurations, multi-terabyte storage arrays utilizing fault tolerant, redundant configurations to keep your system running, even if a drive should ever fail.

The MVP solution is an archive appliance which simply connects to your network and starts receiving studies from your modality then allows them to be viewed on intra-office workstations. There are optional configurations to allow secure remote access to the archive and secure remote viewing.

There is no IT expertise required and no down time in operations for installation. With our solutions, managing and archiving studies from modalities like CT, MRI, CR, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine becomes easier and less costly, allowing imaging centers and clinics to focus on patient care and profitable growth.

Our engineering staff, with over 30 years in ultrasound service, IT support and software development have set design criteria on MVP solutions to be full featured and cost effective. MVP solutions have the power to support a large hospital but are affordable to a small practice.

The PACS server has a secure portal, user logon screen, that requires a database, user, password and anti-spam code to log in. This is the entry-point into the system to manage the study archive and view studies. It can be configured for secure access from any intra-practice workstation, remote office workstations and even at physician residences.

As an alternative, for quick study access, the viewer can be logged into directly allowing studies to be searched and viewed without logging into the PACS system.

When a technician ends a study, the DICOM info (patient data and images) is sent automatically to the Sentinel PACS server. It is then available for viewing on the Pacs server, physician workstations and even their home computer.
If you are running multiple practices in different locations/buildings, patient info can be routed to an alternate location for archiving and study there.
CD/DVD copies of studies can also be created.

Each physician, clinician and technician has a unique logon into the PACS system. This allows studies to be organized. The above screen shows studies to be reviewed by a physician after he logged into the system. The physician does not have to search for their studies.

Workflow is organized to improve efficiency within the practice. Studies can be marked public or private. If needed, public studies can be browed for comparison or review. New studies for a patient can be compared to an older study in the archive.

Notes and discussions can be added during review and are stored with the study. The system can be set up for email notification when studies are transferred. Studies can also be emailed, by the system, to the referring physician.

The Viewer

Sentinel Imaging PACS Server - Viewer

The MVP server has a built in viewer that can display single or loop images. The left hand pane displays 'thumbnail' views of each image in the study. (the white number in the thumbnail is the image number, the green number in the thumbnail is how many images are in the loop). The viewer also displays the frame rate the image was recorded at and the current playback frame rate. The viewer also has many image enhancement features and a measurement utility.

By using the thumbnails page, you can select images for exporting, downloading, viewing (with built in or alternate viewer), or opening the image converter page. This page allows you many options for converting image formats and qualities.
Studies and Images can also be downloaded for storing information locally and/or using a viewer installed on that workstation.
Sentinel's PACS server is flexible enough to integrate into your operation without interrupting your workflow and will improve your capabilities.
By giving you new features and reducing workflow bottlenecks, this system will pay for itself quickly while improving your imaging capabilities.
